Information we collect

When you fill out a form on this site, we collect the information you choose to provide. That may include your first and last name, email address, phone number (optional), ZIP code (optional), any message or reason you write, and, if you pledge your support, an optional photo.

We collect this information only when you submit it to us. We do not sell your information.

How we use your information

We use the information you provide to respond to you, to coordinate volunteering and events, to keep you updated about the campaign, and to comply with applicable election and campaign-finance law.

If you opt in to text messages, we use your phone number to send the messages described in the Text Messaging section below.

Text messaging (SMS)

By providing your phone number and checking the text-message consent box on our form, you consent to receive text messages from Jonathan Melgaard for Detroit Lakes School Board. Messages may include campaign updates, event information, volunteer opportunities, and requests for donation.

Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency may vary. Reply STOP to opt out at any time, and reply HELP for help. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of any purchase, donation, or participation in the campaign.

How we share your information

We will not share text messaging originator opt-in data and consent, provided that the foregoing does not apply to sharing (1) with vendors, consultants and other service providers who need access to such information to carry out work on our behalf (and who will not use such information for their own purposes); (2) if we believe disclosure is required by any applicable law, rule, or regulation or to comply with law enforcement or legal process; and (3) if the user consents to our sharing of such information.

Apart from the above, we share personal information only with service providers who help us operate the campaign and who are bound to protect it, or as required by law.

Data retention and security

We keep your information for as long as needed to carry out the purposes described here and to meet legal and recordkeeping requirements, after which we delete or de-identify it. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect it, though no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Your choices

You can opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP. You can ask us to update or delete the information you have given us by contacting the campaign at the address below.

Children's privacy

This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above.
